I checked the fuel flow to ensure that there are no restrictions and that, by gravity feed alone, there’s plenty of fuel flow post-fuel pump to supply fuel to the engine. To check this, I closed the emergency fuel shut off valve and disconnected the fuel line exiting the electric fuel pump and replaced it with a short line that I could drain into a pail. I then opened the fuel shutoff valve and timed how much fuel poured out in 5min.
1.9gal in 5min = 22.8gal/hr
More than enough to supply fuel to an IO-360.
Prior to doing this, I’d been calibrating the fuel level sensors. This involved flowing all the fuel from one tank into the other, then back again in 2gal increments. I did this several times, each time, running the fuel through a fuel filter. This should have done a good job of kicking up any debris in the tank and filtering it out. Once I had finished calibrating, I removed the fuel filter from the plane, inspected/cleaned it and put it back in.
