Getting close…

I have my airworthiness inspection scheduled for Wednesday morning.  One of the fine folks from the FAA (Windsor Locks office) is going to come out to my hangar at ORH and have a look.  Hopefully everything will go ok.  I’ve been busy making sure all the paperwork is in order and going over all the little details of the plane.  Still a few things left to take care of before first flight, but the list is pretty short, now.

In getting myself ready for first flight, I got my complex endorsement a couple months ago, then went to Florida to get  transition training at the Velocity factory with John Abraham.  That went very well.  In addition to the the flight training, John gives a comprehensive ground course that goes over all the plane’s systems and what to check and watch out for prior to first flight.  Very helpful.  To get insurance, I need 10hrs retract, so I was out flying around in an Arrow this weekend.  Lots of takeoffs and landings at ORH (where I’ll be doing 1st flight).  I need 1.6hrs more retract time, so I’ll save that for the day or so before 1st flight.  I was landing the Arrow no flaps getting close to Velocity type approach speeds.  The Arrow’s a heavy beast that drops like a stone when you cut the power, tho.
