Back in the shop for the winter

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAThe plane is essentially ready for paint, and I had wanted to get it painted this fall, but it just wasn’t going to happen.  The weather was starting to get cool here and the guy I was going to have paint it was busy and couldn’t guarantee a date.  So, I decided to move the plane back into my shop for the winter where I’ll work on finishing the interior, wiring it up and installing the avionics.

So, if you ever wondered whether it was possible to move a Velocity through a single-car garage door, it is.  This is the second time, I’ve moved it in (which means I can get it out, too!).  This time, I took a few pictures to prove it.  Also, this time I thought I would be more clever and built a cradle that would allow me to rotate it the 45deg req’d to squeeze it in.  Unfortunately, I made the cradle ~3-4″ too high, and it actually made it more difficult.  I eventually got it in.  I know, from the pictures, it looks like it will never go in, but to does and I have the pictures to prove it!
