Since I have some time, I thought I’d powder coat the intake tubes and valve covers. I had already painted these parts, and had sandblasted and used good quality engine paint on them, but during assembly and testing, they got chipped up. That engine paint came off way too easy. So, I thought I’d powder coat them. I made a video of the coating process just in case anyone was interested. Its very easy. The powder coating system I used is from Eastwood. Harbor Freight makes a cheaper one, though. These power coating systems are very simple: A HV power supply and an air gun to dispense the powder. You ground your part and a +ve charge is applied to the particles as they are dispersed by the gun and they stick to the part. Then you just bake them at 400F for 20min. The hardest part is getting your wife to let you use her oven to bake them. Kinda stinks up the house.
