I’ve been getting comfortable in the hangar now and getting setup. Been doing a lot of smaller jobs like mounting the doors, putting trim around the interior of the doors, wiring the door closed sensors, polishing the windows (i.e. getting all the scratches out after years of construction abuse). Time to put the main wings back on. While it makes the plane a lot more unwieldy, I wanted it to start looking like a real plane. Also, many of the folks in the hangars around me have never seen a Velocity (or any canard) before and its easier to explain how it goes together and flies with the wings attached.
I cart on wheels I made with lumber left over from my benches really came in handy. It was almost wing-height, so I was able to put each wing on it, roll it into place and slip it onto the bolts. It made the process very easy. Other than having one of my hangar mates use the torque wrench while I held a wrench on the bolts inside the fuselage, I was able to get both wings on myself.
