Its time to move to a hangar. I’m doing most of the construction of the Velocity in my shop at home. My shop is in the basement of our house and has a single-car garage door entrance. It opens up quite a but inside, but to get the Velocity in and out always takes contortions. But, each time I do it it gets easier. Last time, when I had to move it inside, I built a cradle that would allow me to tip it at a 45deg angle. Unfortunately, I made the cradle about 4″ too tall which caused a lot of problems. This time, to move it out, I used this same cradle, but cut ~4″ off the radius of the arc from the back support. This made the job a breeze. Also, Harbor Freight had wheel dollies on sale for $39. I’ll use these to move it around the hangar as well. You can see that I used these dollies under the front and back of the cradle to wheel it around.
Here’s a funny video of the process sped up ~5x. You can see I got my wife, Anna, to help out.
Here’s some pictures of taking the engine off, and the cradle.
