The Velocities beautiful gull-wing doors need gas-spring supports like you see on a hatch-back car. This is the only are where I saw that the previous builder made a mistake. He chose to use very short gas-springs mounted close to the hinge that did not hold up the door properly. I reverted back to the factory specified design that used a much longer gas spring (26″) in a more over-center design. This setup worked great, but this spring does torque the door a bit as its closing causing the door to rub the frame as it closes. Not a huge issue, but I might look for a spring with a slightly lighter spring force (the ones I have now are 55lb).
