I was going to go with fuses, but add LED lights to indicate whether the circuit was active/failed. By the time I had that all designed up, I realized it was going to cost almost as much as breakers and be a lot more complicated. At Oshkosh this year, I saw Composite Design Power Panel at the ACS booth. I snagged the part numbers off the breakers they used and found them on Digikey. So, I built my own power panel based on these breakers. Like the rest of the panel, I used a laser engraver to cut the plastic sub-panel and create the labeling. It worked out pretty well.
