I bought an IO-360 C1E6 from a fellow on the West Coast. He had it mounted on a Velocity and has taxied around with it, but it has not flown. Its a 500hr engine that came out of a twin that crashed (over ran the runway). It is noted in the engine log that it did not have a prop strike. When the PO bought it, he removed the cylinders, checked the rod bearings, replaced the rings and reassembled it. Internals all looked good. It has some nice upgrades: LightSpeed ignition, new Slick mag, lightweight alternator & starter. Also, because it was on a Velocity, it came with the Velocity mount and baffling – bonus!
I had it trucked from CA to my house. The delivery guy was nice enough to dolly it into my garage. Nice big solid wooden crate. Now the challenge was to get it to my workshop around back (over grass). I secured some big off-road knobby tires to the front of the crate and a couple 2×4’s along the sides and was able to move it, wheelbarrow-style it to my shop. Too bad, I took some pics with my small camera and I’ve lost the cable, so I can’t get the pictures of this setup – it was pretty cool.
Here’s some pictures of the unboxing of the engine. I was able to hoist it up and remove the crate from around it. A little dirty and dusty, but its all there.
